Taylor - Day 2

For the last hundred years all physics theories have been based on the existence of an imaginary particle dubbed the Higgs Boson particle. It is the reason matter has mass I have been casually following the search for its existence over the last three years. Back in December the Large Hadron collider in Geneva was brought up to near full power. What it does is accelerate two single atoms to near light speed in opposite directions. As the particles approach the speed of light they stop accelerating and actually begin gaining mass instead. Once they are ready they are forced to collide. the resulting explosion of matter that exists for such a brief moment that up until recently was unmeasurable. Here is a picture since i know you guys are bored by now.

This data somehow shows scientists the existence of a new particle never before seen. It is most likely the Higgs Boson, but until more research can be done it is still possible it is not.

  1. Actually Taylor, You will be surprised to know that I am NOT bored but actually quite interested. Just wish I understood it better. Call me some time and we can discuss it further.
